This is the fastest lens available for the MSX/DSX series. It was the standard lens for the Mamiya DSX 1000 B. The optical quality is - like most standard lenses - excellent. The large f/1.4 aperture is a pleasure to use for manual focusing since DOF is so shallow wide open. Since the MSX7DSX series allows open aperture metering, this is really a strong benefit.
Pictured left is a later version of this lens which already has the focal length imprinted on the aperture ring (like it became standard with the CS lenses for the NC series and the E/EF lenses for the Z-series).
The lens design is identical to the 55 mm 1:1.4 for the TL/DTL series. |
