Various Interesting M42 Screw Mount Lenses

After I acquired the P-mount adapter for the Mamiya NC series cameras I got more and more interested in M42 screw mount lenses.  There are many of these lenses avaiable on the used market at very reasonable prices, and it is now possible to add some lenses to the Mamiya NC system which are not available or very hard to find as a Mamiya CS lens.

I am more interested in these lenses from a user´s point of view, therefore I´m only looking after newer lens designs which have multi-coated elements and very good optical quality.  I will keep adding lenses to this overview which I find of interest especially for users.  Please check back regularly for new additions if you´re interested in these M42 screw mount  lenses.

AUTO mamiya/sekor Lenses for the Mamiya TL/DTL Series

These lenses were made for the Mamiya 500 TL, 1000 TL, 500 DTL, 1000 DTL, and 2000 DTL.  I prefer the DTL series over the TL series since the camera has a spot and an average light meter.  The lenses for the TL series originally had a silver aperture control ring and a silver front lens tube, the one for the DTL series were all black.  Functionally they are identical (mostly auto aperture) and compatible with most M42 cameras.  A few of the lenses are slightly different between the TL and the DTL series.  Below is my collection of TL/DTL lenses I have acquired so far.

AUTO mamiya/sekor SX Lenses for the Mamiya MSX/DSX Series

The Mamiya SX series lenses enable open aperture metering with the Mamiya MSX/DSX cameras.  A small pin transmits the selected aperture value to the camera and the camera then compensates the measured light (though the fully opened lens aperture) accordingly.  This system works very nicely, and it is a pleasure to use the Mamyia MSX/DSX system to take pictures.

Carl Zeiss Jena DDR Lenses With M42 Screw Mount

With the help of the Mamiya P-mount adapter it is possible to adapt the legendary Carl Zeiss Jena lenses to your Mamiya NC series camera.  Here you can find information on some of the available Carl Zeiss lenses from Jena.  I am more or less concentrating only on the newer versions with multi-coated lenses (MC).

Other Interesting M42 Screw Mount Lenses by Various Manufacturers

Here is a list of various M42 lenses made by other companies.  I now also have acquired my first Pentax M42 lens which seems to be very nice.  Also, there is an incompatibilty issue with these lenses when you want to use them on a Mamiya TL/DTL series camera.
