There is no Mamiya CS lens available at this focal length which closes the gap between the standard 28 mm wide-angle lens and the super wide-angle lenses of 21 mm or 20 mm focal length. The focal length of 24 mm gives still a somewhat natural perspective and is easier to use than a 20 mm lens.
This Vivitar lens is optically very good (when stopped down to f/5.6) and distortions are quite well controlled and very acceptable.
This lens has an A/M switch for the aperture function which makes stop down metering more convenient compared to pressing down the spring-loaded depth-of-field preview button on the NC 1000 S camera. |
